Paradise for pooch

Dog-friendly Beaches in Cornwall, near The Headland

There’s an abundance of classic Cornish, dog-friendly beaches on our doorstep. Which is just as well, because The Headland adores dogs (and their owners)...

Fistral Beach

The star of the show and it’s only 100 metres away, give or take the throw of a ball. Fistral is dog friendly all year round and is the perfect stretch of sand for those early morning strolls. Many cafes put out water bowls for your best friend.

River Gannel

The tidal banks of the river Gannel in Pentire (about a mile away) are also hugely popular all year round. Offering golden sands and long rewarding walks, it’s a haven for dog owners, with fewer tourists too..

Towan Beach

In the heart of Newquay, are the famous sands of Towan Beach - another year round dog friendly option. Sheltered with the harbour on one side and ‘the island’ rock on the other, the beach is a popular choice for dogs looking to paddle in the Atlantic Ocean, away from the winds.Holywell Bay

A perfect example of the north coast’s wide open bays. Backed by grass-turfed dunes, it’s a large expanse of golden sand, great for playing fetch with the dog.

Great Western

Another popular Newquay town beach, Great Western, is a soft sandy beach overlooked by towering cliffs. Dogs can stretch their legs on the wide beach at low tide and paddle in the Atlantic at high tide.
