It can be such a long time between lunch and supper. In summer, when the sun’s starting to dip, but the evening hasn’t kicked in, or in winter when you return tired from your coastal stomp but that dinner seems such a distant prospect.
Enter afternoon tea, invented for those foodless hours, designed to sweeten the soul. And at The Headland it’s an occasion to savour and linger over. A grand tradition in Cornwall’s grandest hotel with iconic Atlantic views: it’s charming, elegant, frivolous, and just plain fun. Don't forget to add a little extra indulgence with a glass of Champagne too!
Cornish Cream Tea
When the classic British tradition of afternoon tea hit Cornwall, they said, ‘Where’s the clotted cream?’ It’s almost illegal not to try this when you’re in county. Tuck into hot Headland scones, Boddington’s jam and a bowl of Rodda’s, washed down with a selection of top teas. Cream on top is the local way, but we won’t tell if you forget…
Served in The Terrace between 11:00 - 17:00 daily. £12.00 per person.
Classic Afternoon Tea
Featuring a playful medley of freshly baked sponges and scones, whimsical sweet treats, and curious bite-sized finger sandwiches, all served with a choice of the best specialty loose-leaf teas. Upgrade to a flute of champagne, or an afternoon tea cocktail if you wish. It’s past midday after all.

Standard afternoon tea is priced at £34.50 for adults and £14.50 for children (2-12 years).

The Headland 'Free From' Afternoon Tea
Featuring an array of delicious sandwiches, scones with suitable cream substitutes and Cornish jam, and a selection of cakes and treats. The 'Free From' afternoon tea offers those following a plant based diet or those with allergies the opportunity to enjoy a moment of fun whilst still following observing their dietary requirements. All served with a choice of the best speciality loose-leaf teas. Upgrade to a flute of champagne, or an afternoon tea cocktail if you wish, rest assured your needs are taken care of.

Private Vintage Afternoon Tea Parties
Hold a tea party in your very own private lounge, classically decorated with mismatched vintage crockery and silver. It’s a fairy-tale setting for your party. Sit back and relax as our impeccable staff serve you cake stands loaded with irresistible little luxuries, bite-sized fancies and sweet treats.
