Major Award Win for The Headland

Award-winning sustainability

The Headland wins Sustainable Hotel of the Year at the Hotel Cateys!

We are absolutely delighted to share some incredible news: we have been awarded Sustainable Hotel of the Year at the prestigious Hotel Cateys 2025.

Dubbed ‘The Oscars of hospitality’, winning a Catey is one of the highest awards in the UK hospitality industry, it celebrates the people and businesses setting standards of excellence.

Our sustainability journey has been a major focus in recent years with our team being driven on by our fantastic Sustainability Lead, Bethany Branigan.

Bethany and the wider team attended a glitzy ceremony in London on Monday evening where we had been shortlisted alongside a handful of wonderful hotels from across the United Kingdom.

"I am over the moon for us to have won this award, it has been a huge team effort and I just want to thank everyone across the hotel who works hard every day to make our sustainability efforts genuinely meaningful", she said.

To bring home the sustainability title is not only a proud moment for our team but also a validation of the vision, commitment and everyday hard work that has shaped our journey.

Rising to the climate challenge and community approach

From the outset, our sustainability journey has been focused on engaging with local communities, prioritising local suppliers, reducing waste and building a culture within our team.

This award caps off a fantastic year for our sustainability efforts having already achieved our EarthCheck Silver Certification in September.

Team effort

Behind every sustainably-sourced ingredient, every energy-efficient upgrade and every new eco-initiative is a team of passionate people.

This award is a celebration of their dedication, creativity and relentless determination to push for better solutions in every area of the hotel’s operations.

Each team member has played a role in earning this title and we couldn’t be prouder.

Guest support

We also want to extend our thanks to our guests, suppliers and local community. Your support, feedback and genuine enthusiasm for our sustainability mission have helped us endless amounts.
