Newquay's first Michelin Star restaurant, Ugly Butterfly, brings a relaxed dining experience to Cornwall.
Rooted in Chef Adam Handling’s sustainable ethos, the 4-course restaurant menu and 11-course tasting menu showcase the incredible ingredients that you can find in the South-West of England.
Ugly Butterfly offer their award-winning afternoon tea, served in their tea lounge, as well as a creative cocktail menu and bar snacks.
Open Tuesday-Saturday year-round, with the exception of July and August, with open days being Monday-Saturday
The Offering
Ugly Butterfly's menu is seasonal, working with the best of South-West produce, with emphasis on Cornwall’s natural larder, working with local fishermen and farmers, as well as using ingredient's foraged by their team.
With foundations from Adam’s flagship Michelin-starred restaurant, Frog by Adam Handling in Covent Garden, the menu at Ugly Butterfly is bold, elegant and driven by creativity – earning the restaurant its first Michelin Star, awarded in February 2026.
Ugly Butterfly continues to celebrate its Cornish roots and champion local suppliers, bringing the flavours and character of the region to life.
Please note, Ugly Butterfly unfortunately does not welcome dogs, aside from service dogs.
The restaurant, while welcoming children, does not offer a dedicated children's menu.
