Christmas Wreath Making Workshop

The Headland is inviting a small group of locals to join the Thursday Club ladies in transforming its elegant interior into a magical Christmas wonderland.

The Headland, in Newquay, is keen to foster a sense of community ahead of the festive season with willing volunteers lending a hand to bedeck its showpiece rooms over two days.

The Thursday Club will be leading the charge with the decorating, and The Headland is making a donation to their chosen charity, Penhaligon’s Friends, in way of thanks for all the glittering efforts.

The decorating will take place on November 29 and 30 with locals invited to join the festivities by hanging baubles, wreaths and more in the Lounge, the Ballroom and the Grand Staircase.  The Headland purchased thousands of new decorations earlier this year, and the hotel will be twinkling and sparkling even more than usual this December.

With more than twelve trees to decorate, five huge mantlepieces, over twenty metres of staircases to garland, it is a mammoth task full of fun, fuelled by mince pies and festive jokes.

Veryan Palmer, the hotel’s Director, said: “We think it is really important for the local community to get together this Christmas with many people experiencing a slightly different version of the festive season last year.”

“Christmas is all about spending time together and we are delighted to be able to welcome the community in to transform the place in just 48 hours.”

Those interested in volunteering are being asked to submit a 30-second video clip explaining why they love Christmas with the top candidates then being chosen.  Bonus points awarded for suitably festive jokes!

The lucky recruits will be rewarded after the festive festooning fun with a complimentary two-hour swim pass to the hotel’s five-star £10m Aqua Club, with access to the six different swimming pools.

Once the Christmas transformation is complete by midnight on 30th November, people will be able to enjoy Festive Afternoon Teas at The Headland with an array of seasonal delights on offer.

Alongside the typical offerings of an afternoon tea, there will be mulled wine trifle, cranberry macaroons, chocolate orange yule log, homemade Christmas cake and of course, mince pies.

Any willing helpers must submit their application videos to: christmasdecorating@headlandhotel.co.uk
