THE HEADLAND GAINS BRONZE BENCHMARK EARTHCHECK ACCREDITATION

The Headland is moving forwards on its journey to a more sustainable future with the news that the iconic five star hotel has been awarded ‘Bronze Benchmark’ from EarthCheck,  the world’s leading scientific benchmarking certification and advisory group for travel and tourism.

The Headland’s Sustainability Coordinator, Olivia Giannakoudakis has been hard at work collecting data on the Hotel & Spa’s energy consumption, water consumption, waste produced, supply chain and social responsibility. This data is vital for ongoing, onsite inspections completed by EarthCheck auditors to ensure sustainable operations are maintained and comply with their regulations.

The huge achievement of gaining Bronze Benchmark Accreditation means that The Headland is now tracking their environmental footprint with specialised software using accurate data. This is now the way forward for hospitality businesses to track their environmental impact and start making changes to operations. The whole of planet earth will be impacted by climate change and we can use technology to our advantage to heal. We must work with nature and not against it.

We are in the process of reversing the damage caused during the industrial revolution and EarthCheck is a gateway to this process. This is just the start of our journey and we have a long way to go.
