The Headland’s Sunset Mural
The Headland’s New Mural by Saskia Taskis
Newquay is looking a little brighter lately! As part of the latest Newquay BID project, the town’s doorways have been transformed into bespoke works of art, turning our streets into a colourful gallery. We are beyond thrilled to announce that we’ve been a part of this creative movement.

For those who aren’t familiar, Newquay BID (Business Improvement District) is a non-profit organisation, dedicated to making our beautiful Cornish town a more vibrant and well-managed place to live and to visit. This project is just one of the ways they are breathing new life into Newquay's landscape.
The Headland is more than just a building; it’s part of Newquay’s history and identity. Perched on the cliffs overlooking Fistral Beach, our historic hotel is a sight known and loved by locals and returning guests.
When it was time to choose a scene for our doorway, there was only one vision that truly captured our essence. Local artist Saskia Taskis took on the challenge of portraying the hotel at sunset, a moment where the sky glows, the beach feels calmer and Cornish Choughs soar the sky.
Saskia is a phenomenal self-taught artist and her work on this piece is nothing short of breathtaking. Her attention to detail is so precise and her vibrant painting could easily be mistaken for a photograph! She has managed to capture the exact atmosphere of a Cornish Sunset here at The Headland.

This project has been a labour of love for Saskia. Having this artwork here at The Headland means the world to us and we would be incredibly grateful if you could help us celebrate it. If you love this as much as we do, please cast your vote for our door! It would mean the world to us and especially to the incredibly talented Saskia.
