Special Occasions at The Headland

Private dining in an iconic Cornish hotel

The Headland has been throwing dinners on this clifftop since 1897. We've learned a thing or two.

Mostly, we've learned that the best occasions aren't about starched napkins and hushed voices. They're about good food, a glass that never quite runs dry, and a room full of people you'd happily stay up talking with. Add the Atlantic rolling in below the windows, and you've got something worth remembering.

Whether it's a 70th birthday, a long-awaited reunion or the team dinner everyone actually wants to go to, our private dining is five-star Cornwall, not formal. Grand when you want it to be. Relaxed always.

The spaces

From a table for a dozen to a dinner for 56, there's a room here with your name on it. All our private spaces are set up for seated dining.

RenMor Private Dining

Seats up to 40 · Four round tables · Semi-private

A semi-private space within RenMor, so you get your own corner of the restaurant with all its buzz, the open kitchen and those floor-to-ceiling ocean views. Lively, sociable and perfect for groups who like a bit of atmosphere.

Fistral Suite

Seats up to 56 · Four oval tables

Our largest private dining room, and it knows how to host a party. Room for the whole family, the whole team or the whole gang, with plenty of space for speeches, toasts and the inevitable second round of dessert.

The Morning Room

Seats up to 12

An intimate room for a close-knit table. Just right for an anniversary dinner, a family milestone or a meeting that deserves a better lunch.

Little Fistral

Seats up to 12

Fistral's smaller sibling, with all the same warmth on a cosier scale. Ideal for birthdays, reunions and dinners where everyone can hear the stories.

Food and drink

Our kitchen, led by Executive Head Chef Gavin Edney, cooks with what Cornwall does best. Fish landed a few miles down the coast, meat from farms we know by name and vegetables that haven't travelled far to reach your plate.

Choose from our private dining menus or talk to us about something built around your occasion. Canapés on arrival, a long sharing feast, a celebratory tasting menu: we're happy to make it yours. Dietary requirements are never a fuss.

Then there's the wine. Our list runs from easy-going house favourites to bottles worth saving for a toast, and our team will happily pair something with every course.

Occasions

  • Birthdays and anniversaries. The big numbers, the small ones and everything in between. Cake is very much encouraged.
  • Family gatherings. Three generations, one long table and absolutely no washing up. Little ones are always welcome.
  • Corporate dinners. Team celebrations, client dinners and annual get-togethers, with none of the conference-centre feeling.
  • Stay and dine. Make a night of it. Book rooms or one of our cottages for your guests, and the only journey home is up the stairs.

Making it yours

From your first email to the last coffee, you'll have one person on our team looking after the details. They'll help with menus, timings and seating plans and they'll remember that your uncle doesn't eat mushrooms.

Want to add a little extra? We can arrange welcome drinks, place cards, a celebration cake and spa treatments for the morning after. Just ask.
