The Headland Hotel & Spa in Cornwall is celebrating having been named one of The Best Places to Work in Hospitality for the second consecutive year.
A partnership between The Caterer and employee engagement experts Purple Cubed, the awards recognise the thirty best employers across the UK’s hotel, restaurant, foodservice, pub and bar industries.
One of only 50 hotels in the UK to be awarded 4 Silver Stars by The AA, The Headland’s stunning accommodation, superb facilities, spectacular views and 2 AA Rosette dining have all combined to ensure the venue goes from strength..
However, right from the outset, The Headland’s owners, John and Carolyn Armstrong, realised that a loyal, happy and committed staff were as important.
Darryl Reburn, The Headland’s General Manager said, “John and Carolyn really do look after their staff, whether that means promotion from within, investment in training or simply finding different ways of saying thank you to the team for their continued loyalty and hard work. It may sound like a bit of a cliché but we really are one big happy family here. The fact that such a prestigious awards body has also recognised what we do is really the icing on the cake.”
Awards organisers said: 'As a hotel which is consistently listed in Best Places to Work, there's no doubt The Headland has a successful staff engagement strategy driven partly by the opportunities it offers. In the recent survey some 80% of staff said they values having access to personal development. The introduction od its Headland Talent Development Plan is a case in point. This schools employees in the knowledge skills and confidence they need to become a manager."
