Here at The Headland we're busy helping brides and grooms-to-be plan their perfect day... and it's got us reflecting on the trends we've spotted emerging for weddings taking place in the not-to-distant future.
From classic to traditional, your special day will be a reflection of you and a time which you will never forget, so why not take a look at some of our favourite new ideas and see if you can find some inspiration?
Our Top Seven Trends for 2017/18
1 - Vintage
We all know that vintage has been around for a few years now, but currently it appears to be going through a slight change. We're seeing pretty flowers, homemade displays and delicate lace populating look books, with pastel shades and creams making a comeback.
It's not just weddings which are celebrating all things vintage either, hen parties are also getting in on the act with many choosing Vintage Tea Parties such as these for their celebration with friends before the big day.
2 - Extras with the 'Instagram' factor...
Everyone is now looking to have that perfect moment on their wedding day which can be captured in a single image - and that goes for extras at the reception too. From donut walls to sweet carts, the dessert station is filling this niche in a big way, with a multitude of options available for the bride or groom with a sweet tooth.
New to the local area are S'mores - a tradition brought across from America where you grill a marshmallow before choosing chocolate and sandwiching the whole squidgy delicious mess between two biscuits. Yum.
3 - Just For Two
Yes, there are still gloriously extravagent weddings, and large celebrations filled to the brim with family and friends, but we've also noticed a new style of wedding emerging - one just for two...
Increasingly people are coming to tie the knot in small groups, or even just as a couple, with no distractions to take their minds off the one they love. Above is a picture taken of a recent 'just for two' wedding we hosted here at The Headland, where the bride and groom enjoyed an exquisitely sophisticated vintage tea in our grounds overlooking the stunning Fistral Beach. 4 - Fruits and Floral
Another trend we're seeing more and more, the stylistic combination of fruits and floral.
A classy, enchanting choice which suits weddings of many different styles, and always impresses. This trend is pretty and modern, yet with a classic understated touch and we don't see it going away any time soon.
5 - Mini-moons
After months of planning and enjoying a wedding, many of us now just simply don't have the time to hop straight on a plane and disappear for another two weeks (that will come!). So we're seeing many of our brides and grooms take the decision to mini-moon, followed by a more extensive getaway further down the line...
The options for this are endless... enjoy a peaceful countryside retreat, indulge with a spa break, take in the sights and sounds of a city or perhaps cocoon yourselves together on the coast... the choice is yours.
What we can say though is that we offer a wonderful mini-moon package here at The Headland - why not take a look?
6 - High Drama
For this trend think venues with the 'wow factor' - we're talking sweeping staircases, high ceilings and views for days...
Couple's are increasingly looking to set their wedding in a place which will leave guests in a sense of awe from the moment they arrive. The high drama often continues inside with lavish table decorations, fantastic light displays and food created with the eyes in mind.
Why not make sure your wedding starts on all the right notes?
7 - Balloons
Finally - to one of our favourite new trends - giant balloons.
This one encompasses much of the above - especially high drama and the ultimate instagrammable moments.
We're seeing couples shun the traditional bouquet portraits in favour of something whimsical and evocative of childhood. Giant balloons add a pop of colour, a focal point and most importantly stunning imagery.
