The indoor pool renovation are underway!

We have extremely exciting news ... we are going to have a fabulous new indoor pool area which will, at a future date, incorporate a spectacular spa treatment room complex!

Imagine the possibility of all sorts of scrumptious treats during your stay...  followed by a scented steam shower, while being surrounded by marble Hamann tables .... pure unadulterated luxurious bliss.

As we are a listed building, the proposed works may have to take a little longer than a simple quick fix, but we are totally satisfied, after many discussions with architects, spa experts, to name a few, that the process will be 100% worth the disturbance.  The Huers Teenage Room, and Polka Dot Children's Playroom will move also, and we are hoping to have these available in time for the Easter Holidays 2012.  Lastly, our project will also involve taking our Billiard Room out of service from January 2012 onwards.....but, we're sure that you will agree this is a small price to pay for a splendid, long term marvellous facility of a larger indoor pool.

Our fabulous make-over, will, unfortunately, mean that we have to close our indoor pool from January 2012, until May 2012, to allow for the necessary works.  We are proposing to open our outdoor pool from 1st April (subject to weather conditions), which will be fully heated, so that during the spring time, you will still be able to take a dip in the blissful freedom of the outdoors .. and if there is a slight nip in the air, perhaps stop in the Terrace Bar en route to your room, for one of our scrumptious hot chocolates to warm you, delicious..

Our future planned refurbishment will take The Headland into another world of luxuriation.  Not only will you be able to enjoy the best views in Cornwall, but you will be able to enjoy some wonderfully decadent spa treatments.

The Mighty Cribbar Wave
The Mighty Cribbar Wave

If you are lucky and happen to be in Newquay for a huge Atlantic swell, the likes of which we experienced on Sunday, you may get to see some amazing death defying surfing at The Cribbar, with tow-ins ever more popular, this magnificant wave is only for the brave.... best leave The Cribbar to the pro's and watch from The Terrace, at The Headland!  Why not treat yourself to a scrumptious lunch, or perhaps a decadent, warming, hot chocolate, and a slice of mouth wateringly delicious cake.. what better excuse than that will you find?

Nicholas Williams

We are delighted to support our fabulous local figurative painter, Nicholas Wiliams.  Nicholas' studio is situated in Newquay's former lifeboat station, but a stone's throw from the Hotel.  He has a viewing window at the front of the station, which is open on most days throughout the year and allows visitors to see a number of recent paintings.

We are proud to have one of his magnificant works on display in our Fistral corridor, adjacent to the Fistral Suite.  The piece is entitled, 'Stored', which is a beautiful and striking oil on canvas, which he painted in 2008. Guests are naturally welcome to view this piece at their leisure.

Gold Investors in People awarded to The Headland

We are delighted that Investors in People have awarded us a 'GOLD'!  The report highlighted good practice throughout the organisation, with a summary paragraph from the inspector shown below:

The Headland Hotel continues to be at the forefront of good practice in supporting its team, as it has done for many years. People are their priority - guests, staff, suppliers and business partners, and developing mutually beneficial relationships with these groups underpins the hotel's values, business strategies and plans.

The investment that the hotel makes in its team is reflected by the views of their guests, for example, in achieving a TripAdvisor rating of 89%. As one recent visitor commented: ‘Never before have I seen such impeccable service at a hotel. The people are what make it. From the second you enter, the people insist on making you have a once in a life time experience'.

At the recent staff tea party we celebrated this wonderful achievement with a glass or two of champagne!  Many congratulations must go to our fantastic HR team, Michelle Brown and Grace Prior!
