The Headland Awarded Silver as Large Hotel of the Year at The Cornwall Tourism Awards 2012

9th November 2012

Silver Award for The Headland at The Cornwall Tourism Awards.

The Headland proved to be the perfect venue for The Cornwall Tourism Awards this year.  The hotel’s balloon lit up the night sky as this truly iconic Cornish hotel welcomed guests with crackling fires, smiling faces and an atmosphere filled with excitement and warmth.  300 guests were personally greeted by Mr and Mrs Armstrong and their staff.

John Armstrong said, “This hotel really lends itself to glittering occasions and our great team of staff were helped on the night by students from Cornwall College.  St Austell Brewery set up exciting themed bars and a magnificent evening was enjoyed by one and all.“

The delicious menu, skillfully prepared by Head Chef, Jan Wilhelm, and his brigade, was very warmly received. Wilhelm showcased all of the hotel’s main suppliers and the wonderful local produce that we are so privileged to enjoy in Cornwall. After the awards ceremony happy guests filled the candlelit lounges and danced to ‘Swing Empire’.

“Many congratulations to all who were involved”, said Carolyn Armstrong.  “It was lovely to see our children, Wenny and George, collecting the award, with our very capable general manager, Darryl Reburn.  With our cousins winning awards for Bedruthan Steps and Scarlet hotels, the family rather swept the board!  It was a pleasure to host the event and we and our team very much enjoyed the evening”.
