  • I consider myself extremely privileged that my career path has lead me to be leading such a vibrant and multifaceted business such as The Headland. The setting is truly unique, the grandeur and architecture of the hotel are second to none, and the team that make it all happen are truly outstanding. The past couple of years have and continue to be very exciting times as the hotel, coupled with its beautiful new spa and gym, continues to be recognised as the leading property throughout the county, enjoying numerous awards to consolidate the huge efforts made by our entire team.

My role is both a rewarding and challenging one; it is truly wonderful to be surrounded by such positivity and confidence, and where everyone recognises and delivers excellence throughout.

  • ‘To find joy in work is to discover the fountain of youth’
    Quoted by Pearl S.Buck

After 10 years’ experience in hospitality and leisure management, I find myself on the door of one of the most beautiful hotel and spas in the South West. A hotel with continuous development of staff and its facilities, being driven by the strongest team I have ever encountered. A true privilege to say I am now a ‘Headlander’.  Such a refreshing property teamed with an effervescent ethos.

Come and find your true Cornish spirit!

  • I have had an incredible journey at The Headland, beginning my career as a room attendant in Housekeeping. Opportunities to learn and develop enabled me to progress to the role of Executive Head Housekeeper. Realising that I particularly enjoyed the HR elements of managing a team, I began a new chapter in Human Resources - a challenging but rewarding change. With support and encouragement I have been able to continuously develop, completing many courses along the way. Key achievements include being awarded an Acorn in 2007 (affectionately known as the 30 under 30) and in 2014 I completed my Masters in Personnel and Development; it certainly wasn’t easy fitting in the many hours of study alongside work and three children, this made it all the more rewarding!

I am proud to be part of such an amazing team, and love that my job allows me to help others pursue and realise their full potential.

Michelle Brown - Human Resources Manager

  • It seems all roads would eventually lead to Cornwall. It just took 12 years to realise! After varied experience from Caprice Holdings to The Goodwood Estate; with a long Devon tenure in between, we found our hearts were firmly left in the South West. The wife being Cornish the obvious clincher. What fascinates and excites me about The Headland is the rich history, unparalleled beauty of its surrounds and the scope for me to add my own touches to a thriving food offering.

Christopher Archambault - Executive Head Chef

  • Every day is a 'good' day at The Headland. The views are amazing and the building is beautiful. Having the opportunity to learn and grow within a role at The Headland is a real pleasure.

  • After finishing education I was unsure what I wanted to do in life. I then found The Headland where I have been working since October 2004. I am proud to work for such a unique company and I still have much more to learn. There are very few places where you get to watch the sunset whilst at work.

    Toni Sorsby- Senior Assistant Manager

Jamie says...
  • My career so far has taken me to many high standard seaside hotels in the South West of England and the Island of Jersey. I am so pleased that this journey has led me back home to Newquay and The Headland Hotel, a position I only dreamed of being in 10 years ago.

    Jamie Crossman - Assistant Manager

MORWENNA says...
  • I feel lucky and privileged to work in such a beautiful building and surroundings. Every day the view is different and the stormy seas in winter are just as impressive as the inviting turquoise waters in the summer. I take great pride in the guests being wowed by the building itself and the views when they arrive.

    Morwenna Yeo - Head Housekeeper

  • Having previously worked for Elounda Beach, one of leading hotels in the world for 5 years in Crete, I was very excited to be given the opportunity to work in one of Cornwall's most iconic hotels. I enjoy my role at The Headland immensely and everyday always brings something new. I'm looking forward to watching The Headland Spa go from strength to strength.

    Lucy Mingo - Spa Manager

Claire says...
  • Working at The Headland is a fantastic opportunity to be involved in planning clients' events. Whether it's a dream wedding day, perfect party or important conference, the variety of the job makes it an exciting place to work...and what an amazing location too.

Claire Robinson - Senior Events Coordinator

TOM says...
  • I've been a visitor to Newquay and Cornwall since I was a child, so when I decided to move away from the hustle and bustle of London the West Country seemed like a natural choice, and coming from a five star hotel background where else would I choose to work but the best hotel in Cornwall? I look forward to welcoming you to The Headland.

    Tom Kempton - Reception Manager

SARAH says...
  • The Headland is my first job in hospitality and I just wish I had done it sooner.  My previous job was working for the police as a detention officer showing 'guests' to their rooms - good training for my position as the first female porter at the Headland although our guests here are much more pleasant, I just have to remember to allow them to keep their shoes!

I thoroughly enjoy my role at The Headland - my particular highlight has been my progression within the hotel.  Having started as a Porter, I was then selected to be the Concierge and more recently I have been promoted and given the responsibility of Duty Manager. I am really proud to be part of the award winning team at The Headland.

Sarah Gaskin - Concierge & Duty Manager

Craig says...
  • Being part of the Headland fills me with pride. The team are fantastic and I really believe in the service we provide. The grandeur of the building catches my breath every day as I come up the driveway. It’s a rewarding challenge to work on a piece of local history, in an area that’s stolen this Geordie's heart.

Craig Allan - Health and Safety Manager
