We are proud of the professionalism of our staff and the quality of our guest experience. But you don't have to take our word for it. Here are some of our recent awards.   

The Headland awarded Silver Award for Large Hotel of the Year at the Cornwall Tourism Awards 2012

  • We are very pleased to announce that The Headland was awarded Large Hotel of the Year at the Cornwall Tourism Awards 2012, as the hotel hosted this highly successful and enjoyable evening. 
    Carolyn Armstrong said,  “It was lovely to see our children, Wenny and George, collecting the award, with our very capable general manager, Darryl Reburn.  With our cousins winning awards for Bedruthan Steps and Scarlet hotels, the family rather swept the board!  It was a pleasure to host the event and we and our team very much enjoyed the evening”.

VisitEngland Gold Award 2012

  • We are delighted to announce that The Headland Cottages have been awarded the highly prestigious VisitEngland Gold award for yet another year!

    VisitEngland’s unique Gold awards are given in recognition of consistent high achievement and exceptional quality within a property’s star rating, or for outperforming a star rating. Over 23,000 accommodation businesses are assessed annually across eleven different schemes, making VisitEngland (in conjunction with Quality in Tourism) the largest provider of quality assessment in England. Acting as a reliable regulatory body for the accommodation and tourism industry, VisitEngland recognise quality, differentiate levels of facilities and services and make potential guests aware of what they can expect before they make a booking.  


Tripadvisor 2012 Certificate of Excellence

  • Our guests consistently comment with the highest praise, and Tripadvisor have recognised that our 4.5 rating as an exceptional achievement. Only the very best hotels in the business are awarded a Certificate of Excellence and so naturally we are delighted.  We would like to pass on our sincere thanks to all of our fabulous guests for taking the time to review The Headland in such a consistently positive way.

South West Tourism Excellence Awards 2011-2012

  • Many tourism businesses from across the South West were celebrating on 6th February 2012, at the South West Tourism Excellence Awards. The awards were hosted by TV presenter Teresa Driscoll, with the presentations themselves made by journalist and broadcaster Simon Calder, Senior Travel Editor of The Independent and a frequent TV commentator on travel and tourism.  We are delighted to announce that we were awarded highly commended for the Large Hotel of the Year category.  Our thanks extend to all those who were involved.


Excellence in Business Training Awards 2012

  • We are delighted to announce that we were shortlisted in the 'Outstanding Commitment to Training' in the small to medium enterprise category at the Excellence in Business Training Awards 2012, which took place on 26th January 2012. We were awarded a beautifully framed 'Runner-Up' certificate, and send our thanks to Cornwall College Business for hosting such a marvellous event.  We are very proud of the training programmes we run for our staff at the hotel, and it is very nice indeed to be recognised for our efforts.

Head Housekeeper of the Year 2011

  • We are absolutely delighted to announce that Jude Gallacher, our Executive Housekeeper, was awarded the highly prestigious Head Housekeeper of the Year 2011 award at The Cateys in London.  Jude has received many awards during her career at The Headland, but this really is the pinnacle of her career to date. Fantastic news and well done Jude.


Cornwall Tourism Awards 2011

  • We are delighted to announce that The Headland was awarded two highly prestigious awards at the Cornwall Tourism Awards 2011. May we pass on huge congratulations to all of our staff for their support and hard work, and for continually delivering and exceeding the high standards we expect at The Headland.

    The ceremony was held at St Mellion International Resort on 9th November 2011 and was hosted by TV star Sue Perkins. The Headland won the silver award for Large Hotel of the Year and the bronze award for Large Self Catering Establishment of the Year.

Gold Investors in People awarded to The Headland

  • We are delighted that Investors in People have awarded us a 'GOLD'! The report highlighted good practice throughout the organisation, with a summary paragraph from the inspector shown below:

    The Headland Hotel continues to be at the forefront of good practice in supporting its team, as it has done for many years. People are their priority - guests, staff, suppliers and business partners, and developing mutually beneficial relationships with these groups underpins the hotel's values, business strategies and plans.

    The investment that the hotel makes in its team is reflected by the views of their guests, for example, in achieving a TripAdvisor rating of 89%. As one recent visitor commented: ‘Never before have I seen such impeccable service at a hotel. The people are what make it. From the second you enter, the people insist on making you have a once in a life time experience'.

    At the recent staff tea party we celebrated this wonderful achievement with a glass or two of champagne!  Many congratulations must go to our fantastic HR team, Michelle Brown and Grace Prior!
